About the Film
We are a team of University of North Texas students from the Media Arts department. This short film began as a senior class project for Writer/Director, Christine Williams. The only requirement was to pitch an idea and film it! With the help of our talented, and hard working crew, we did just that.

Fostered is about an amateur singer-songwriter struggling to protect her little sister from the foster care system. Christine has always been concerned with the foster care/adoption system and found herself questioning, what happens if blood siblings get put into the system together, and what happens to that relationship if one escapes the system and moves on before the other? Music also plays a big part in this film. "Personally, I use music and songwriting as a healing/coping mechanism, so I wanted Nova's character to have the same outlet to express her feelings about the different situations that take place in her life." -Christine Williams
As production went on, Fostered began to receive positive responses from various people who either connected with the story, or had their own experiences with the foster care system and trying to gain custody of their siblings. Now as we continue to finish post-production and move onto our festival run, we hope our film can shed the light on the hidden issues that can occur within the foster care system. We also encourage people to reach out to us and share your stories!
